Responsibilities

  • Set the UX vision and strategy across the Money and Risk teams, connecting multiple pods and ensuring a cohesive platform experience.
  • Identify and drive high-impact design opportunities across Business Money, Consumer Money, Payments, and Risk.
  • Influence product strategy, roadmap priorities, and team OKRs alongside product directors and engineering leaders.
  • Define AI-first financial UX, including representing uncertainty, surfacing errors gracefully, preserving user agency, and building trust in consequential automated decisions.
  • Set learning priorities, synthesize customer insights across pods, and ensure customer knowledge informs product direction.
  • Raise the quality bar through hands-on design work, prototyping, critique, and shipping.
  • Coach and mentor designers across the Money and Risk teams.
  • Evolve Gusto’s design system and platform standards with scalable patterns and frameworks.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product design experience leading design direction across multiple teams, pods, or product domains.
  • Experience designing high-trust, high-stakes products where errors have real consequences and clarity is essential, such as payments, risk, compliance, or healthcare.
  • Experience shaping domain- or portfolio-level product strategy with product and engineering leadership.
  • Strong hands-on craft, prototyping, iteration, and shipping experience.
  • Experience developing experience architectures and service models spanning multiple teams.
  • Ability to lead through influence, operate in ambiguity, anticipate organizational friction, and coordinate design work across teams.
  • Active use of AI in design practice, with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and direct AI-assisted design work.
  • A clear perspective on how AI is changing product design, supported by practical experience.

  • Fintech or financial services experience.
