Responsibilities
- Build and lead a founding team of engineers and data scientists developing high-throughput services that inspect live traffic at near-zero latency and applied machine learning running in the critical path.
- Establish the team’s technical and cultural direction alongside lead engineers.
- Make decisions that unblock the team and maintain delivery velocity.
- Own hiring from the first requisition through team growth, maintaining a high hiring bar.
- Own team outcomes end to end, including delivery, production health, and employee development.
- Create clarity and plans for ambiguous, high-stakes work.
- Ensure shipped systems behave as intended in production.
- Lead hands-on enough to guide technical decisions and earn the team’s trust.
- Hire, coach, and develop high-performing engineers and data scientists.
- Build an AI-native team that uses AI to improve productivity and engineering outcomes.
Requirements
- Demonstrable AI-native leadership and personal proficiency using AI to increase effectiveness.
- 8–10+ years of engineering experience, including experience leading teams that shipped and operated production systems.
- Strong technical depth in systems, machine learning, or both, with the ability to guide difficult technical decisions and review work.
- Track record of hiring and growing high-performing engineers and data scientists.
- Ability to own delivery of ambiguous, high-stakes initiatives end to end without compromising quality or production standards.
