Strategic Sourcing Manager
Own strategic sourcing and complex commercial negotiations for Vercel’s cloud, AI infrastructure, and hyperscaler providers. The role requires significant cloud sourcing experience, strong pricing and TCO analysis, and the ability to manage high-value contracts amid rapidly changing consumption.

Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing strategy and commercial negotiations with cloud infrastructure providers and hyperscalers.
- Structure complex IaaS, compute, storage, and capacity agreements balancing committed spend, consumption growth, flexibility, and long-term unit economics.
- Design tiered, committed-volume, and usage-based pricing structures aligned with consumption and growth.
- Own strategic sourcing for emerging AI infrastructure and hyperscaler relationships, including models for high-volume and customer-facing AI workloads.
- Partner with Engineering, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to forecast demand, evaluate suppliers, and translate growth into sourcing leverage.
- Analyze provider pricing, consumption patterns, contract structures, and market dynamics to improve economics and reduce commercial risk.
- Build and maintain AI-powered sourcing tools and playbooks for redlining, negotiation preparation, benchmarking, and vendor reporting.
- Help define an AI-native sourcing function as spend and deal volume grow.
Requirements
- Significant strategic sourcing experience owning cloud infrastructure deals.
- Direct negotiation experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle, or comparable infrastructure providers.
- Understanding of IaaS, compute, storage, consumption-based pricing, committed spend, discounts, and capacity agreements.
- Experience leading complex, high-value negotiations affected by changing consumption and challenging forecasts.
- Ability to evaluate tradeoffs among commitment, flexibility, unit economics, pricing transparency, and negotiating leverage.
- Experience partnering with technical and financial stakeholders to translate infrastructure requirements and forecasts into sourcing strategies.
- Experience managing strategic supplier relationships and contracts through negotiation, execution, consumption monitoring, and renewal.
- Strong analytical skills in rate and unit-cost analysis, TCO modeling, and pricing model design.
- Clear, direct communication with executives and negotiating counterparts.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience sourcing AI/ML infrastructure, data services, or technical services for engineering-focused organizations.
- Direct negotiation experience with AI hyperscalers or large-scale AI compute and inference providers.
- Experience sourcing SaaS and other enterprise software alongside infrastructure.
Compensation and Benefits
- San Francisco base pay range: $150,000–$180,000 annually.
