VP of Strategic Finance
Leads full FP&A cycle including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for operationally complex business. Acts as internal consultant solving cross-functional problems, diagnosing business drivers behind financials, and driving data-informed decisions on staffing, pricing, and resource allocation. Requires 8+ years FP&A and BizOps experience.
Responsibilities
- Own the full FP&A cycle — reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis — with narrative depth to help leadership understand what happened, why, and implications for next quarter.
- Act as the company’s internal consulting bench — pick up ambiguous, cross-functional problems and run them from problem framing to decision to implementation.
- Diagnose beyond the model — trace P&L movements back to business events like comp plan changes, service delivery constraints, product decisions, or team restructures.
- Drive action using data for real-time decisions on staffing, pipeline performance, pricing, and resource allocation.
- Connect dots across the company — surface insights spanning teams proactively.
- Build with a systems mindset — evaluate tools, data infrastructure, and processes for scalability, integration, and impact.
- Lead highest-stakes analytical work — unit economics, investment cases, new business models, and deep dives shaping company direction.
- Serve as strategic thought partner to SVP of Finance — pressure-test assumptions, flag second-order impacts, and bring rigor to business decisions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience spanning FP&A and Business Operations, ideally including investment banking, management consulting, or BizOps/Strategy & Operations at a scaling company.
- Track record owning FP&A cycle end-to-end (reporting, budgeting, forecasting, board-level narrative) at a company with operational complexity.
- Deep analytical rigor and experience running ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives from framing to decision.
- Think in systems, communicate complex analysis clearly, bias toward operational action.
- Experience in SaaS, legal tech, or marketplace businesses highly valued.
- Familiarity with tools like Looker, dbt, or Snowflake.
Compensation
- $230,000–$265,000 base + equity
