About the Role
Seeking a Technical Oversight - Processing with deep mortgage operations experience and strong independent judgment. Act as a senior operational partner to originating customers, owning issue resolution end-to-end and ensuring loans move cleanly, compliantly, and predictably through the lifecycle. Collaborate with underwriting, processing, product, and engineering to reduce errors and improve workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Origination Ownership
- Act as operational point of contact for originating customers, owning issue resolution from identification through closure
- Guide customers through the full loan lifecycle, providing clear direction on requirements, timelines, disclosures, and next steps
- Own operational health of assigned loans end-to-end, ensuring files progress on schedule and close on time
- Proactively manage customer expectations to reduce escalations
Operational Judgment & Risk Prevention
- Independently evaluate loan scenarios to identify risks before escalation
- Catch missing, inconsistent, or incorrect inputs that could lead to delays or rework
- Provide firm guidance to customers on corrections and process adherence
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with underwriting, processing, and closing teams for clean handoffs
- Serve as trusted escalation point for complex issues
- Coordinate with third-party vendors
Systems & Product Feedback
- Identify recurring patterns, edge cases, and workflow gaps
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering on requirements and automation
- Contribute mortgage insight to improve systems
Documentation & Quality
- Maintain clear documentation of interactions and decisions
- Ensure communications align with regulatory and operational standards
Qualifications
- 7+ years of mortgage industry experience in processing, underwriting, or similar
- Direct experience working loans from application through CTC and closing
- Hands-on experience with mortgage disclosures (LEs, CDs), TRID timing, tolerances
- Ability to sanity-check loan structure (LTV, eligibility, compliance)
- Prior experience as escalation point for brokers, borrowers, or loan officers
- Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Excellent communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving
