Senior Payroll Operations Specialist I
Advanced payroll operations specialist handling complex remittance, union compliance, and corrections in a high-volume multi-state environment. Mentors teammates, maintains SOPs, and drives process improvements.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end payroll remittance operations including corrections, reversals, overpayments, and contribution remittances — resolving cases within SLA with clear documentation throughout
- Serve as an escalation point for complex union and agency issues; identify root causes of reporting discrepancies and coordinate resolution with appropriate payroll teams
- Mentor team members on complex remittance and compliance matters, actively raising the skill level of those around you
- Document and maintain SOPs, keeping them current, complete, and usable without additional coaching
- Identify gaps in payroll operations processes and bring forward concrete recommendations for improvement
- Partner cross-functionally on payment and client funding questions, system testing, and payroll-related project work
- Leverage AI tools to optimize operational workflows and adopt emerging functionalities that improve team efficiency and accuracy
- Proactively surface issues — with proposed solutions — and act as SME across teams to drive them to closure
What You'll Have
- 5+ years of end-to-end, multi-state payroll processing experience
- Advanced union expertise; ability to handle complex remittance and compliance issues independently
- Experience in third-party payroll or entertainment/film industry payroll strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Notion and Salesforce; intermediate Excel skills
- Demonstrated ability to document processes clearly and maintain SOPs that others can follow without hand-holding
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills — comfortable working across teams and with external agencies
- Proactive approach to AI tooling; comfortable adopting and applying new workflows to improve operational efficiency
- FPC or CPP certification preferred
