Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end operational strategy for Field Engineering—designing and optimizing processes, systems, and frameworks for SA, DSE, CSE, TAM, and Professional Services teams.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Field Engineering Operations team.
- Shape team structures, role definitions, RACI, and engagement models.
- Drive capacity planning, territory design, and resource allocation across Field Engineering.
- Own pre- to post-sales lifecycle framework, including forecasting, go-live tracking, and consumption ramp measurement.
- Define and maintain FE metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and health scoring models.
Requirements
- 8+ years in operations, strategy, or technical program leadership supporting field engineering or customer-facing technical organizations at high-growth SaaS companies, with 3+ years building/leading teams.
- Experience scaling operational frameworks for pre-sales and post-sales technical teams (e.g., Solutions Architects, Sales Engineers, Professional Services, Customer Success Engineering).
- Proficiency in GTM systems like Salesforce (administration, architecture, custom objects, flows, reporting, integrations).
- Track record in territory planning, capacity modeling, and compensation design for technical field teams at $100M+ ARR companies.
- Strong systems thinking, analytical instincts, execution bias, and ability to partner with VP-level leaders.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience building operations functions from the ground up in Field Engineering or Solutions Architecture.
- Worked in developer tools, infrastructure, or cloud platforms with PLG/enterprise sales.
- Post-sales lifecycle management experience (consumption pricing, onboarding, health scoring).
- POV on AI, automation, internal tooling; shipped relevant projects.
- Comfort with SQL, lightweight internal tools, partnering with GTM Engineering.
Compensation
San Francisco, CA base pay: $260,000-$300,000 (actual based on skills, experience, location). Includes equity, benefits, bonus/variable pay.
