Chief of Staff to the Chief Product Officer

224k – 280kSan Francisco, CABusiness OperationsOnsite8+ YOE
Summary

Chief of Staff to the CPO driving operational excellence for the Product organization through rhythm of business ownership, strategic project execution, and cross-functional coordination at a high-growth fintech company.

About the role

Problems You'll Solve

Run the Product Org Rhythm of Business: Drive operational activities for the Product organization. Set and own the cadences and forums that form the pulse of the organization (R&D Reviews, Leadership meetings, organization-wide All Hands). Own the underlying infrastructure including resource planning and budgets.

Execute on Leadership Direction: Act as an audience in executive forums to understand decisions and ensure execution. Cascade decisions through the organization, distinguish exceptions from the rule, and surface critical information to the CPO proactively.

Create Leverage on Strategic Projects: Own connective tissue on high-ambiguity, cross-functional projects including integration readouts for acquisitions, onboarding acquired teams, and supporting high-coordination product rollouts.

Act as a Sounding Board for the Leadership Team: Ask questions that help people arrive at cleaner answers faster. Have hard conversations to consistently raise the quality bar across the product org.

Be the Voice of the Product Org Across Carta: Own inputs and outputs connecting the Product org to the rest of the company. Partner with PMM, Solutions Engineering, Sales, Finance, and others to ensure the product story is told internally.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Product, Business Operations, Strategy, or a Chief of Staff function — ideally in a high-growth tech company
  • Track record of running complex cross-functional programs, not just tracking them
  • Strong EQ and ability to build trust across all levels of the organization, including executives
  • Comfort with ambiguity and instinct for identifying what matters before anyone else names it
  • Exceptional communication skills — crisp exec briefs and sharp verbal feedback
  • Ability to hold context across many workstreams and know when to push, pause, or escalate
  • Presence and credibility in the room even without formal authority
