Digital Product Director

Responsibilities

• Lead digital product engagements from brief through to market, owning quality, pace, and client relationships.
• Serve as the primary client contact for strategic accounts and build trusted senior relationships.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams while maintaining rigor, craft, and momentum.
• Help clients design AI-native products, including agentic systems, human–AI collaboration, and non-deterministic interfaces.
• Prototype and pressure-test concepts early using live models and other interactive approaches.
• Contribute to IDEO’s AIx practice by developing tools, methods, and perspectives for responsible AI product design.
• Help clients respond creatively to the European regulatory environment, including the EU AI Act.
• Coach and mentor designers and product leads.
• Scope follow-on work, write proposals, grow relationships, and identify opportunities for client impact.
• Represent IDEO externally through talks, writing, and thought leadership on trustworthy AI and human-centred design.

Requirements

• Strong track record leading and launching complex digital products at senior or director level, ideally in both in-house and consultancy environments.
• Experience shipping products where AI meaningfully changes product capabilities and user experience.
• Ability to balance delivery rigor with experimentation and imagination.
• Fluency in AI product design, including agentic systems, large language model capabilities, and human–AI interaction patterns.
• Proficiency with Figma and early-stage prototyping, including clickable mockups, coded proofs of concept, and live models.
• Strong people leadership, including talent development and performance management.
• Experience scoping new work, writing proposals, and presenting to senior clients.
• Experience navigating complex stakeholders and building alignment.
• Understanding of UX and interaction design fundamentals, supported by a broad portfolio.
• Must be based in the UK and have unrestricted right to work in the UK; sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to Have

• Experience shipping AI-native products where AI is structural to the experience.
• Familiarity with the EU AI Act or broader European AI regulation.
• Experience in health, financial services, consumer technology, retail, or sustainability.
• Experience building an innovation practice or capability.
• Fluency in a second European language.

• Salary: £90,000–£100,000 GBP, depending on experience.
