Program Manager, Strategic Futures

Leads strategic planning, operations, and cross-functional execution for an AI-focused internal think tank. Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Strategic Futures leader to translate strategy into priorities, operating plans, and deliverables.
  • Own planning and execution across research projects, publications, cross-functional collaborations, public-facing work, and special initiatives.
  • Convert open-ended goals into workplans with outcomes, owners, milestones, timelines, dependencies, and decision points.
  • Develop operating systems such as roadmaps, project trackers, meeting cadences, decision logs, risk registers, and publication or launch plans.
  • Coordinate work across Global Affairs, Legal, Research, product policy, safety, preparedness, Communications, and other teams.
  • Build internal relationships and help maintain the team’s organizational presence.
  • Prepare executive briefings, strategic updates, presentations, agendas, decision documents, talking points, and other written materials.
  • Plan and run team and cross-functional meetings; capture decisions and ensure follow-through.
  • Identify bottlenecks, gaps, dependencies, and competing priorities, and develop solutions.
  • Maintain portfolio visibility and support prioritization and resource-allocation decisions.
  • Coordinate review and approval processes for research, publications, presentations, and public-facing work.
  • Support external engagements, convenings, and public communications.
  • Develop AI-enabled workflows for project management, knowledge sharing, synthesis, coordination, and team effectiveness.
  • Help define and evolve the team’s operating model, norms, and ways of working.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in chief-of-staff roles, program management, strategic operations, research operations, consulting, policy, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success driving complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, functions, and competing priorities.
  • Exceptional organization and ability to create clarity, momentum, and accountability in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to move between strategic planning and detailed execution.
  • Excellent writing and synthesis skills, including turning complex discussions into decisions, plans, briefings, and communications.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across policy, legal, communications, product, safety, and technical research teams.
  • Ability to engage credibly with subject-matter experts.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion with sensitive, high-visibility, or developing initiatives.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, high-ownership approach with a bias toward action.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving organization with evolving priorities.
  • Strong interest in advanced AI and its implications for public policy, governance, institutions, and society.
  • Proficiency with AI tools and thoughtful application of them to operational workflows, research synthesis, knowledge management, and coordination.

  • Experience in AI policy, emerging technology, government, public affairs, a think tank, a research organization, or another intellectually intensive environment.
  • Experience supporting a senior leader while owning a broader portfolio of programs and team operations.
  • Experience coordinating research publications, external communications, public events, or other high-visibility outputs.
  • Experience establishing or scaling an operating model for a new team, organization, or function.
  • Familiarity with organizational and policy questions surrounding advanced AI.
