Technical Program Manager, Storage & Data Infrastructure

Leads cross-functional programs that translate model and product needs into scalable, reliable data platform, database, and storage infrastructure. The role requires deep cloud storage and data-stack expertise, architectural judgment, and experience driving complex production programs through adoption.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead complex programs across data platforms, online databases, and storage infrastructure.
  • Translate model, product, and data-consumer needs into requirements for access patterns, consistency, durability, freshness, availability, and scalability.
  • Partner with engineering teams to create repeatable scale units for storage, compute, and networking, including provisioning, placement, routing, data movement, and readiness checks.
  • Lead cross-stack programs spanning ingestion and processing, databases and indexes, and file/object storage.
  • Establish data ownership, schema compatibility, change-data-capture, replay, and consumer-readiness contracts.
  • Evaluate physical and logical footprint, indexing and replication amplification, redundant copies, tiering, caching, network movement, cost, and efficiency.
  • Drive resilience and recovery programs, including backup, failover, point-in-time recovery, save-and-restore, recovery-time validation, safe resumption, and traffic isolation.
  • Coordinate lifecycle correctness for files, objects, databases, and data platforms, including metadata, retention, deletion, snapshots, privacy, access control, auditability, and residency.
  • Lead migrations and adoption through compatibility checks, workload testing, staged cutovers, rollback, and operational handoff.
  • Improve APIs, guardrails, and self-service for predictable consumption of new capacity and capabilities.
  • Measure product and platform outcomes such as task completion, continuity, data freshness, query and retrieval latency, snapshot latency, throughput, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Experience independently owning complex production programs in data platforms, databases, or storage infrastructure.
  • Deep working knowledge of hyperscaler and cloud storage technologies, such as Amazon S3 or Azure Blob Storage, including performance, placement, resiliency, and cost constraints.
  • Understanding of the full data and storage stack, including product APIs, ingestion and processing, databases, storage engines, indexes, caching, replication, data movement, durable storage, CPU, and networking.
  • Ability to translate model, product, and data-consumer needs into precise platform requirements and readiness evidence.
  • Experience leading delivery across product, model, data, database, storage, and infrastructure teams.
  • Ability to evaluate tradeoffs across capability, correctness, reliability, latency, and cost efficiency using workload evidence.
  • Strong communication skills and ownership through production adoption.

Compensation

  • Annual salary range: $257,000–$445,000.
