Software Engineer, Intern
Build and ship end-to-end AI-powered software features for clinical workflows, spanning backend, frontend, LLM orchestration, and evaluation. The internship requires current study toward a technical degree and onsite work five days per week in San Francisco or New York City.

Responsibilities
- Design and build end-to-end features, enhancing existing systems and contributing to agentic LLM workflows, including retrieval pipelines, structured tool use, and chained LLM calls.
- Fix user-facing bugs and issues and make quality-of-life improvements across backend and frontend systems.
- Use evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, robustness, and clinical reliability.
- Prototype with new models, prompting techniques, and open-source orchestration tools such as LangChain and LlamaIndex.
- Build empathy for clinicians and their workflow challenges.
- Collaborate with design, product, machine learning, and infrastructure teams to ship customer-facing features.
- Work with an experienced software engineering mentor and collaborate with teammates within the pod.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong interest in pursuing a full-time software engineering role in 2027; high-performing interns may be eligible for a return offer.
- Experience using AI tooling to write, debug, and learn faster, with the judgment to verify its output.
- Passion for the company's healthcare mission.
- Curious, adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Collaborative, low-ego approach and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
- Must work onsite five days per week from the San Francisco or New York City office; relocation support is available.
Compensation
- Base salary: $40 per hour.
- Three-month Fall 2026 internship, with possible extension.
