Product Manager, API Platform

Leads the strategy and development of Glean’s public APIs, SDKs, MCP capabilities, and developer experience for customers and partners. Requires 5+ years of product management experience, strong technical fluency, and experience building scalable developer-facing platforms and integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and evolution of public APIs and SDKs, including versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility.
  • Define the end-to-end developer experience, including authentication, onboarding, first API call, error handling, rate limiting, webhooks, and edge cases.
  • Build sample applications and integrations, write code, and validate developer workflows.
  • Review and improve technical documentation, identifying omissions and inaccuracies.
  • Analyze support tickets and forum discussions to identify recurring product and developer-experience issues.
  • Define and defend metrics such as time-to-first-call, integration success rate, API error rates, adoption, usability, and business impact.
  • Establish API contracts and product requirements before engineering implementation and manage scope.
  • Lead API, SDK, MCP, agent interoperability, and partnership strategy for developers and partners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in platform, developer experience, API, SDK, or partnership-driven products.
  • Strong technical background, including experience with API contracts, request payloads, logs, telemetry, and implementation tradeoffs.
  • Experience building or leading robust, scalable APIs and SDKs for external developers.
  • Strong product judgment for developer interfaces, resource design, abstractions, and machine-readable errors.
  • Experience working directly with customer and partner developers and translating their needs into platform products.
  • Experience integrating products with third-party enterprise applications and operating reliable production integrations.
  • Clear technical writing skills and appreciation for concise specifications and accurate documentation.
  • Ability to define and measure adoption, usability, and business impact for developer-facing products.
  • Interest in AI and helping customers and partners build with AI.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base salary: $175,000–$195,000.
