Network Operations Technician

Operates and troubleshoots a large-scale satellite and data center network, responding to incidents, coordinating maintenance, and resolving customer escalations. Requires at least one year of network or IT operations experience; networking certifications and programming skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Detect and triage emerging anomalies on satellites, ground stations, terrestrial network interoperability and interconnections, network co-location sites, and internet points of presence.
  • Provide centralized awareness and management of routine and emergency maintenance performed by company personnel and partner contractors.
  • Execute rapid incident response for major network disruptions.
  • Own investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution efforts for common network issues.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution for complex residential and enterprise escalations in coordination with internal teams.
  • Measure, preserve, and improve the uptime and performance of the network.
  • Follow and improve processes used for network operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience troubleshooting and operating computer systems in a network, IT, or security setting, including a Network Operations Center, Security Operations Center, or data center operations environment.
  • Ability to take initiative, develop new expertise, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in mission-critical operations requiring strong attention to detail and communication.
  • Availability for daytime on-shift rotations and weekends as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry-recognized technical certifications such as Network+, Security+, CCNA, or JNCIA.
  • Experience using packet captures or device telemetry to troubleshoot networks and identify root causes.
  • Familiarity with connectivity technologies including MAC, Wi-Fi, WDM, IPv4, and IPv6.
  • Knowledge of switching technologies including STP, VLANs, VXLANs, and QinQ.
  • Knowledge of routing technologies including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and RDMA.
  • Knowledge of network services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, and NAT.
  • Knowledge of network security technologies including MACsec, ACLs, and anti-DDoS measures.
  • Experience troubleshooting consumer IoT, home security, and smart devices.
  • Residential or business customer interaction experience; customer support experience preferred.
  • Experience debugging complex systems using data analysis.
  • Basic programming experience in Python, SQL, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or another STEM discipline.

  • Base salary: $55,000–$110,000.
