Senior Software Engineer, Cloud
Owns Redpanda Cloud’s usage-based billing and payment services, including Metronome and Stripe integrations, metering, reconciliation, and auditability. The role requires strong distributed-systems experience, Go or comparable backend skills, public-cloud proficiency, and enough React/TypeScript familiarity to support customer-facing interfaces.

Responsibilities
- Own the technical implementation of usage-based billing using Metronome and payments using Stripe end-to-end, including architecture, development, operation, and evolution.
- Build and operate correctness-critical metering, billing, and payment workflows with strong idempotency, reconciliation, and auditability.
- Adopt existing metering, billing, and payment systems from other teams and drive them toward future requirements.
- Translate product and commercial requirements into technical designs and shipped workstreams.
- Partner with finance and customer success on invoicing accuracy, reconciliation, and revenue correctness.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, design, and customer-facing stakeholders on the technical roadmap.
- Maintain high standards for security and privacy of PII.
- Participate in on-call after ramp-up.
Requirements
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and a track record of owning feature and component development and delivering reliably.
- Experience developing, operating, and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
- Backend proficiency in Go or a comparable systems language, with willingness to ramp up on Go.
- Foundation in public cloud infrastructure, including at least one of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with maintaining and adapting customer-facing web UIs using React, TypeScript, or similar technologies.
- Production experience using AI-assisted software development workflows such as Claude Code or Codex.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills and ability to collaborate in a globally distributed, asynchronous environment.
Strong Plus
- Cloud marketplace integration experience with AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Azure.
- Deeper React and TypeScript experience for customer-facing interfaces.
- Experience developing or owning signup and login flows and identity-provider integrations.
- Exposure to billing and payment services such as Metronome and Stripe.
Nice to Have
- Experience building or operating large-scale production SaaS platforms.
- Experience with streaming platforms as a user or provider.
