Senior Product Counsel
Advises product, engineering, and business teams on legal risks, technology transactions, privacy, intellectual property, and product commercialization. The role requires a JD, U.S. bar admission, and at least seven years of legal experience, preferably in technology.

Responsibilities
- Translate complex legal analysis into clear, actionable guidance for product and engineering teams.
- Assess legal risks and advise product, engineering, business teams, and senior business leaders on product strategy.
- Review and architect legal frameworks for technology transactions, including technology partner agreements, inbound IP licensing agreements, and marketplace arrangements.
- Review marketing event agreements and support promotions and sweepstakes.
- Draft terms of service, disclosures, policies, and related processes.
- Apply privacy-by-design principles and partner on data-flow reviews, PIAs, and other privacy deliverables.
- Solicit invention disclosures, support patent strategy, and protect trade secrets.
- Partner on product marketing collateral and claim substantiation.
- Build and refine scalable Legal team processes.
- Engage externally as a subject-matter expert.
Requirements
- JD degree with strong academic credentials.
- Admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 7+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience.
- Technology-company experience preferred; Internet security and infrastructure experience desired.
- Ability to provide legal advice aligned with strategic business goals.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, prioritization, and project-management skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with lawyers, non-lawyers, and senior business executives.
Nice to Have
- Technical background or expertise.
- Experience with copyright law and Internet law, including the AI Act, Data Act, net neutrality, DMCA, or CFAA.
- Experience with Jira or other project-management solutions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Bay Area hires: estimated annual salary of $191,000 - $263,000.
- Washington D.C. Area hires: estimated annual salary of $183,000 - $252,000.
