Responsibilities
- Advise teams building core AI and machine learning models and products, including agentic workflows, multimodal outputs, and downstream clinical use.
- Identify and mitigate AI-specific legal risks involving model behavior, output accuracy, intellectual property, data provenance, training rights, and liability for AI-generated content.
- Develop scalable legal processes, frameworks, and contract language for frontier AI development.
- Advise on emerging AI regulation and represent company positions with external counsel, regulators, and industry groups.
- Support privacy impact assessments, model risk assessments, and AI data-governance frameworks.
- Partner with legal, product, and compliance teams on transparency, accountability, and human oversight.
Requirements
- 8+ years of legal experience, including 4+ years counseling on AI, machine learning, or emerging technology products.
- Prior in-house experience required.
- Experience creating processes, contract language, and frameworks for novel legal matters.
- Working knowledge of AI legal issues, including IP and copyright in AI-generated content, training-data rights, model liability, and responsible AI principles.
- Ability to translate complex regulatory and technical AI concepts into practical guidance for technical and non-legal audiences.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity, tight timelines, and high volumes of novel legal questions.
- Strong ownership, intellectual curiosity, and judgment.
Nice-to-Haves
- In-house experience at a growth-stage AI or healthcare technology company.
- Understanding of federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA and data privacy regulations as applied to AI systems.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range of $188,000-$255,000, plus equity grants for full-time employees.
