HR Business Partner

Senior HR generalist partnering with leaders and the Head of People to build scalable HR operations, performance, compensation, compliance, and employee relations programs. Requires 6+ years of progressive HR experience, independent ownership, and strong knowledge of employment law.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Head of People and business leaders to translate company priorities into people programs and processes.
  • Advise managers on performance, coaching, and employee relations matters.
  • Own onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, HRIS data integrity, and compliance recordkeeping.
  • Drive performance review cycles, including calibration preparation and manager enablement.
  • Administer compensation programs, including data hygiene, benchmarking support, and cycle execution.
  • Shape HR policies and California employment law compliance.
  • Contribute to workforce planning and organizational design.
  • Build and document scalable HR processes as the company grows.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally including experience at a high-growth startup.
  • Experience operating independently as a senior individual contributor.
  • Ability to balance administrative execution with strategic HR work.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance; California experience is a plus.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Comfort building processes from scratch and operating with ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to earn trust and influence outcomes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fintech, financial services, or another regulated industry.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS or performance platforms such as Culture Amp, 15Five, or Rippling.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience with compensation analysis and planning.
  • Experience scaling a People function from a very small team.
