About the job
Key Responsibilities

- Own the deal desk from an accounting perspective: define contract approval policies, serve as accounting approver, and partner with Sales and Legal on deal structures.
- Influence deal structures pre-signature by building relationships with Sales, Legal, and Finance to shape agreements commercially while maintaining controllership.
- Lead preparation of revenue-related financial reporting, footnotes, technical disclosures, and public-company reporting readiness.
- Own the revenue system roadmap (requirements, design, testing, optimization) in partnership with Finance Systems.
- Advocate for automation with engineering and systems teams by translating accounting needs into priorities.
- Design, implement, and operate internal controls over financial reporting for revenue and technical accounting, including documentation, testing, remediation, and audit support.
- Build scalable, documented processes to handle growing transaction volume and deal complexity, replacing manual work with automation.
- Apply Claude (LLM) to streamline team work such as research, memo drafting, contract review, reconciliations, and disclosures.
- Partner across Sales, Finance, Legal, and systems teams to enable new products, pricing models, and GTM motions while advising on accounting implications.
- Lead and grow the accounting team, setting priorities, mentoring, and raising the technical bar.
Minimum Qualifications
- Track record of leading and developing a high-performing accounting team.
- Deep expertise in revenue recognition under ASC 606 for software, subscription, or consumption-based models.
- Personal ownership of complex technical accounting research, position memos, auditor defense, and US GAAP disclosures.
- Experience designing, implementing, and operating internal controls over financial reporting (documentation and testing).
- Ability to influence non-accounting stakeholders, including shaping deals with Sales/Legal and automation with systems teams.
- Experience owning a revenue or billing platform (Zuora or similar) as implementation lead or accounting roadmap owner.
- CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public company experience or preparing a high-growth company for public reporting and SOX 404 compliance.
- Background at a national or Big Four firm.
- Experience with consumption-based, usage-based, or hybrid revenue models, especially in AI, cloud, or infrastructure.
- Experience using LLMs or AI tooling to automate accounting, contract review, or controls.
- Experience standing up or overhauling a deal desk approval process.
