About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical QC leader across large-scale, mission-critical data center construction projects.
  • Define and improve program-level quality engineering standards, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria.
  • Reconcile differing tenant quality program specifications and flow-down requirements.
  • Develop and govern Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, inspection workflows, and quality documentation standards across civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and commissioning scopes.
  • Ensure critical MEP systems—including electrical distribution, mechanical and cooling systems, controls, and related infrastructure—are installed according to design intent, specifications, submittals, code requirements, and performance expectations.
  • Partner with Construction, Design, Commissioning, Operations, general contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, authorities having jurisdiction, and third-party inspectors.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and construction execution plans for quality and constructability.
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring defects, non-conformances, rework drivers, and system-level quality failures.
  • Establish defect taxonomies, trend reporting, and quality metrics to identify systemic risk and performance.
  • Drive pre-functional and functional readiness standards with commissioning teams.
  • Provide technical quality sign-off recommendations before commissioning, energization, turnover, and operational handoff.
  • Review non-conformance reports, corrective action plans, punch lists, inspection results, test reports, as-builts, redlines, O&M manuals, and turnover packages.
  • Identify quality risks early and drive corrective action before impacts to schedule, commissioning, cost, or reliability.
  • Translate field lessons learned into scalable standards, playbooks, and repeatable quality practices.
  • Mentor QC Engineers, QC Managers, construction teams, and trade partners.
  • Support audit readiness and maintain quality documentation and reporting standards.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction QA/QC, quality engineering, field engineering, commissioning support, or related technical construction roles.
  • Deep technical understanding of MEP systems in mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with electrical distribution, mechanical and cooling systems, controls, system integration, and construction-to-commissioning handoff.
  • Experience developing or improving ITPs, inspection plans, quality standards, checklists, NCR processes, punch management, and turnover documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical submittals, test reports, commissioning documents, and code requirements.
  • Experience with defect tracking, trend analysis, root cause methodology, and corrective action frameworks.
  • Ability to influence contractors, subcontractors, engineering teams, commissioning teams, and internal stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong field presence and ability to identify installation risks, technical issues, and quality gaps before downstream failures.
  • Systems-thinking perspective on how construction quality affects commissioning, operations, uptime, and long-term asset performance.
  • Highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and able to communicate and document effectively.
  • Willingness to work on-site full-time and travel to other construction sites as needed.
  • Ability to hold contractors and internal stakeholders accountable to quality standards.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Data center or hyperscale experience with AWS, Meta, Google, Microsoft, or similar companies.
  • Experience in healthcare, semiconductor, refinery, central plant, power, or industrial infrastructure construction.
  • Experience with pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
  • Familiarity with Procore, BIM 360, Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, commissioning platforms, or similar construction and quality tools.
  • Certifications such as CQM, CQI, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, ASQ, or similar.
  • Experience creating quality standards, inspection libraries, lessons-learned programs, or quality playbooks at scale.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages.
  • Restricted Stock Units.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and leave of absence programs.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Employer HSA contributions.
