Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all operational aspects of Flexport’s business in Taiwan, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with global standards.
- Develop and execute country strategies aligned with regional and global objectives to drive growth and profitability.
- Set financial targets, including volume, revenue, net revenue, gross profit, cost of goods sold, and operating expenses, in partnership with Sales, Finance, and regional leadership.
- Own the country P&L and operational metrics, including on-time performance, schedule quality, and productivity.
- Develop annual operating plans, establish performance metrics, cascade objectives across teams, and report progress to executive leadership.
- Identify procurement opportunities and lead strategic negotiations with airlines, shipping lines, handlers, truckers, and third-party forwarders.
- Establish vendor strategies, service-level agreements, and performance-management processes.
- Monitor procurement costs against the market and drive improvements in competitiveness.
- Align local product capabilities with market needs and develop new end-to-end service solutions where gaps exist.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to identify product and feature gaps, define requirements, and influence the product roadmap.
- Lead operational quality improvements using on-time performance, schedule quality, and other relevant metrics.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing local management team in partnership with Sales, Finance, and Account Management.
- Establish team and individual objectives, manage engagement and performance, and lead teams through organizational change.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local customers, airlines, shipping lines, government stakeholders, and other partners.
- Partner with Sales to develop go-to-market, pricing, customer segmentation, trade-lane markup, and strategic-account investment strategies.
- Provide market, operations, technology, and consultative sales expertise to support business growth.
- Formalize and disseminate market intelligence and sales collateral.
- Ensure legal, regulatory, and ethical compliance across the operation.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain management.
- At least 10 years of leadership experience.
- Proven track record of growing a freight-forwarding business in Taiwan.
- Strong relationships with local buyers of freight-forwarding services.
- Deep understanding of Taiwan’s logistics market and experience working with local partners, airlines, shipping lines, and government regulations.
- Proven ability to develop and execute operational strategies that drive growth and efficiency.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing customer and partner relationships.
- Hands-on experience managing complex supply-chain operations, process improvement, and technology implementation.
