Fullstack Software Engineer
Builds and scales accounting platform features handling bank transaction reconciliation, partner integrations, and data pipelines. Requires 3-4 years fullstack experience with Python/Django/React, AI tools, and API integrations in a fintech context.
About the job
What you'll do
- Build and ship features across the accounting product - from member-facing reconciliation and bookkeeping experiences to internal tooling that powers our accounting and bookkeeping operators
- Work on the integration layer between Collective and our partners that includes extending APIs, handling edge cases, and improving data reliability
- Improve the transaction pipeline that flows from bank feeds through our accounting platform into our data layer, including reliability, observability, and drift detection between source and destination
- Own well-scoped features end-to-end with support from senior engineers to define the approach, build, deploy, instrument, and iterate
- Partner with Product, Design, and Operations to translate accounting workflows into clean software, and surface engineering tradeoffs early
- Use AI-powered development tools (copilots, code agents, agent workflows) day-to-day to move faster and cut manual overhead
What you'll bring
- 3–4 years of experience building and shipping production software in a product-focused environment
- Solid fullstack engineering skills (e.g., Python, Django, React, or similar modern frameworks)
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs and working with messy, real-world data
- Hands-on use of AI developer tools (copilots, code agents) in your day-to-day workflow — not just experiments
- Ability to take a well-scoped problem and drive it to a shipped, instrumented solution with light guidance
- Good product and UX instincts to make sensible scope tradeoffs and ask the right clarifying questions before building
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially when explaining tradeoffs to non-engineering partners
- Familiarity with SQL and working with data warehouses (BigQuery a plus)
- Interest in the accounting / fintech / payroll domain, or a track record of getting up to speed quickly in a new domain
