Technical Services Engineer
Provides advanced technical support for enterprise MongoDB customers, troubleshooting database, infrastructure, networking, storage, and cloud issues. The role also develops diagnostic tools, advocates for customer needs, and mentors team members.

Responsibilities
- Advise customers and solve complex MongoDB problems across the database server, drivers, cloud, and infrastructure ecosystem.
- Resolve customer questions and issues involving architecture, performance, recovery, security, and large-scale MongoDB operations.
- Serve as an expert resource on methodologies for running MongoDB at scale.
- Advocate for customer needs by collaborating with product management and development teams.
- Contribute to internal projects, including development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
- Mentor and ramp new team members.
- Build knowledge of new product lines within the MongoDB ecosystem.
- Complete new-hire training and the MongoDB Certified DBA Associate exam.
- Progress toward handling technical escalations and advanced diagnostics independently.
Requirements
- Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
- Storage engineering experience with NAS, SAN, SSD, multipathing, and caching.
- Experience building and maintaining complex, mission-critical production database systems.
- Ability to read code and perform basic coding or scripting in one or more languages, such as Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.
- Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases involving performance, availability, and scalability.
- Ability to analyze issues holistically from the application tier through the database to storage.
- Genuine desire to help people.
- Ability to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure, and solve problems in real time.
- Ability and desire to rapidly learn a wide variety of technical skills.
- Strong collaboration skills and judgment about when to seek help.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience managing large-scale databases, including RDBMS or NoSQL systems.
- Experience with authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos, or Active Directory.
- Experience using or managing MongoDB.
- Experience with distributed version control systems, particularly Git.
- Experience with cloud service stacks such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration systems using vendor-specific enterprise operators.
