Staff Software Engineer, Marketplace Insurance

Responsibilities

• Own the expansion of insurance features and cost transparency, including roadmapping, prototyping, and leading 0-to-1 projects across the technology stack.
• Act as a stakeholder in product decisions and partner with business and product stakeholders to set direction.
• Analyze and decompose complex product challenges to drive sound design decisions.
• Write and ship production code using C#, React, and AWS for millions of users.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists.
• Mentor engineers and improve team throughput through coding standards, automated workflows, and continuous improvement.
• Improve engineering processes and technical capabilities to deliver quality solutions.
• Work with GenAI tools and technology.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and scaling high-performance, distributed backend systems.
• Experience shipping code for complex, user-facing products across multiple areas of the technology stack.
• Strong product-owner mindset and a record of delivering features with significant business impact.
• Well-rounded system design skills, including designing for high availability, fault tolerance, and graceful degradation.
• Experience improving developer productivity through coding, testing, deployment, and observability best practices.
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
• Effective communication skills for technical discussions and cross-functional presentations.
• Experience evaluating and working with third-party vendors and data providers.
