Fullstack Engineer - Subscriptions
Builds end-to-end web applications, backend services, APIs, and data platforms for Spotify’s global subscription and Premium-offer business. The role requires frontend and backend production experience with Java, TypeScript, React, Next.js, GraphQL, gRPC, and relational databases.

Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end features across modern web applications, backend services, and data platforms supporting Spotify's global subscription business.
- Create intuitive internal products for launching, configuring, and managing Premium offers through secure, guided workflows.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for subscriptions, prepaid products, pricing, promotions, and offer lifecycles.
- Develop GraphQL and gRPC APIs connecting frontend applications with distributed platform services.
- Design database schemas, implement migrations, and optimize application performance.
- Build secure, reliable, and auditable systems supporting financial operations and SOX-compliant approval workflows.
- Evolve shared platform capabilities, improve developer experience, and increase platform reliability.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to technical designs, architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting service reliability and availability.
Requirements
- Experience delivering production software across frontend and backend technologies.
- Experience developing scalable backend services using modern Java; Java 17+ experience is a plus.
- Experience building web applications with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
- Experience designing or consuming GraphQL APIs.
- Experience with gRPC services and Protocol Buffers, or willingness to deepen distributed-systems expertise.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
- Commitment to reliable, maintainable, and well-tested software.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
- Interest in simplifying complex workflows and creating intuitive internal-user experiences.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with jOOQ, Flyway, Apollo GraphQL, DataLoader, Styled Components, Storybook, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS, Material UI, or similar technologies.
- Experience building commerce platforms, subscription products, pricing systems, distributed systems, or large-scale platform modernization initiatives.
Work Arrangement
- Remote within the EMEA region, with a work location available.
- Collaboration primarily takes place within Central European and GMT time zones.
