Senior Optomechanical Engineer

Design, prototype, assemble, test, and debug precision electromechanical and optical systems for semiconductor lithography, metrology, and motion applications. Requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, 6+ years of relevant industry experience, precision machine design expertise, CAD proficiency, and optical system simulation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and develop precision electromechanical and optical components and systems.
  • Build new systems and integrate off-the-shelf products, including motion stages and metrology equipment.
  • Perform detailed analysis and simulations to evaluate system designs and meet constraints.
  • Assemble, test, and debug new electromechanical and optical systems.
  • Work with suppliers to source components and materials.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 6+ years of industry experience in electromechanical or optics system design and analysis.
  • Working fluency in precision machine design fundamentals, including exact-constraint design, kinematic couplings, flexures, error budgeting, structural loops, and tolerance analysis.
  • Mechanical 3D CAD experience.
  • Experience designing and simulating optical systems; Zemax preferred.
  • A portfolio demonstrating hands-on projects and systems built is generally required.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Formal training in precision engineering.

  • Familiarity with firmware, controls, or electrical engineering.
