Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Leads prototype-to-production manufacturing for autonomous rail vehicles, including greenfield facility design, NPI, assembly-line development, tooling, and process documentation. Requires 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience and ownership of an NPI launch.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition from R&D prototypes to scalable production, including process flow, station layout, sequencing, takt/cycle-time allocation, and greenfield production-site design.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) from engineering prototypes through validated, repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Specify, design, and source fixtures, jigs, assembly tooling, capital equipment, and other line requirements.
  • Partner with mechanical, electrical, systems, quality, facilities, and supply-chain teams on design-for-manufacturability (DFM), PFMEA, process controls, inspection points, and first-article processes.
  • Create manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, routers, and station standard work.
  • Define production data capture and process-control limits, and support validation and visualization such as SPC dashboards.
  • Provide technical leadership on manufacturing processes and assembly-line design.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Ownership of at least one NPI program from prototype through production launch.
  • Direct experience designing and standing up an assembly line or work-cell operation.
  • Experience specifying and sourcing fixtures, tooling, and capital equipment, including vendor lead-time management.
  • Strong knowledge of DFM principles and experience influencing product design from a manufacturing perspective.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in rail, transit, aerospace, or heavy-equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience with large or heavy vehicle subassemblies, crane-assisted handling, and structural lifting.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA and hardware-development gate processes such as CDR.
  • Startup or small-team experience building manufacturing processes from scratch.

Compensation

  • Target salary range: $129,000–$177,000 USD annually.
