Design and deliver mechanical systems for advanced aerospace platforms across concept, testing, production, and field operations. The role requires a mechanical engineering degree, substantial hands-on design experience, 3D CAD proficiency, and expertise in structural analysis and ruggedized hardware.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and integrate mechanical systems and subsystems, including avionics packaging, harnessing, connector selection, and structures.
- Own mechanical engineering deliverables across the product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through testing, production, and field support.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management to ensure designs are buildable, testable, and reliable.
- Provide hands-on technical support during testing, demonstrations, and field operations.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement design fixes under tight timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 5–6 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in aerospace, ground support equipment, or related ruggedized hardware systems.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar.
- Ability to create detailed drawings, assemblies, and GD&T-compliant documentation.
- Strong foundation in structural design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with engineering calculations, including stress, thermal, tolerance stack-up, fatigue, and applicable FEA.
- Cross-functional collaboration experience with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
Nice-to-haves
- Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills for resolving mechanical failures.
- Familiarity with ASME, ISO, ASTM, or industry-specific regulatory standards.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements and environmental qualification testing.
- Familiarity with power distribution, hydraulics, or aerospace support systems.
