Staff Signal Integrity and Power Integrity Engineer
Leads signal and power integrity architecture, simulation, validation, and sign-off for high-speed automotive electronic systems. Requires 10+ years of SI/PI experience, advanced interface and PDN expertise, and mastery of electromagnetic simulation and laboratory characterization.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Lead SI/PI architecture and define constraints for complex, high-density PCBs and system designs.
- Collaborate with hardware design, silicon vendors, PCB layout, and mechanical engineering teams on layer stack-ups, routing, component placement, and power delivery architectures.
- Analyze, optimize, and sign off on PCIe, Ethernet, MIPI, GMSL, and LPDDR interfaces.
- Provide design guidance and validation for automotive A2B communication and audio protocols.
- Architect and conduct PDN analysis, including DC IR drop, AC impedance modeling, and transient response analysis.
- Develop SI/PI routing rules, simulation methodologies, automation scripts, and hardware sign-off processes.
- Perform root-cause analysis, lab measurements, and simulation-to-test correlation.
- Mentor engineers and serve as an SI/PI subject-matter expert across the hardware organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of industry experience in signal and power integrity analysis for complex high-speed digital designs.
- Proven experience designing, simulating, and troubleshooting PCIe, multi-gigabit Ethernet, MIPI CSI/DSI, and GMSL interfaces across multiple product lifecycles.
- Deep expertise in memory interface design and simulation, particularly LPDDR.
- Familiarity with automotive audio and sensor bus protocols such as A2B.
- Advanced proficiency with 2D/3D electromagnetic extraction and SI/PI simulation tools, including Ansys HFSS/SIwave, Keysight ADS, Cadence Sigrity, or Siemens EDA/HyperLynx.
- Mastery of electromagnetics, transmission line theory, crosstalk, jitter, and PDN design principles.
- Hands-on experience with VNAs, TDRs, and high-bandwidth oscilloscopes.
Nice-to-haves
- Automotive industry experience, particularly ADAS or autonomous-vehicle hardware.
- Understanding of automotive reliability standards, compliance requirements, and harsh-environment design.
- Experience with high-layer-count HDI PCB design, advanced packaging, and modern fabrication capabilities.
- Ability to influence technical strategy, align cross-functional stakeholders, and communicate complex technical trade-offs to executive and non-SI/PI audiences.
