- Lead rapid prototyping of components and conduct structural and thermal analyses.
- Validate designs through performance testing and failure-mode analysis (FMEA).
- Serve as the technical interface between mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams.
- Optimize system dynamics and ensure seamless system integration.
- Work as an individual contributor in an early-stage environment while helping scale the team.
- Mentor junior engineers and manage multiple projects.
- Self-direct projects and drive issues to closure with the necessary teams.
- Travel to suppliers, manufacturing, and testing facilities as required, approximately 20%.
Requirements
- 6+ years of machine-building experience in hardware, mechatronics, or robotics engineering, with a focus on system-level architecture for production systems.
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics Engineering.
- Expert proficiency with SolidWorks or similar platforms.
- Deep understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of robotic kinematics and dynamics, motor controllers, and simulation tools.
- Hands-on experience with sensor integration, embedded systems, and manufacturing design execution.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to program changes and work effectively in a high-velocity environment.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience as a systems or mechanical engineer for an automation system integrator or OEM, delivering turnkey automated solutions.
- Knowledge of waveform tuning, custom PLC programming, Beckhoff/TwinCAT, or high-performance motion controllers such as ACS and Elmo.
- Experience with laser interferometry, high-resolution optical encoders, and sub-micron calibration techniques.
- Experience integrating Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and 3D vision systems into robotic workflows.
- Advanced FEA/CFD capabilities for thermal and vibration analysis.
- Experience designing or qualifying custom brushless motors, linear actuators, or robotic end-effectors.
- Knowledge of ISO 10218 or ISO 13482 robotic system safety standards.
Compensation and Benefits
- Comprehensive benefits typically include healthcare, dental, mental health support, parental planning resources, retirement savings options, and paid time off.
