Responsibilities
- Own assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, supporting schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review and approve U.S. and Canadian payrolls and manage related accounting for payroll, benefits, bonuses, commissions, and payroll liabilities.
- Manage accounting for cash, prepaid and accrued expenses, fixed assets, operating expenses, intercompany activity, and other general ledger accounts.
- Own accounts payable and spend-management operations, including Ramp administration, vendor onboarding, master-data controls, expense classification, payment approvals, 1099 support, reconciliations, and controls.
- Review financial activity, investigate unusual items and variances, and resolve issues before close completion.
- Maintain audit-ready schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Support financial statement and 401(k) audits, tax filings, and other compliance requirements.
- Develop, document, and execute accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Automate manual work, improve accuracy, strengthen controls, and scale accounting processes.
- Support ad hoc accounting analyses and special projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of significant portions of month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statement and general ledger analysis.
- Experience with journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, rollforwards, and accounting schedules.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including large datasets, lookup and aggregation formulas, and supporting schedules.
- High attention to detail and sound judgment regarding accuracy, materiality, and deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and resolve unfamiliar problems.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in SaaS, software, venture-backed, or high-growth technology companies.
- Experience with payroll and benefits accounting, accounts payable, and spend management.
- Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing PBC schedules.
- Experience in multi-entity or international environments.
- Experience with modern ERP, expense-management, and payroll systems; Rillet, Ramp, or Rippling experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with internal controls, accounting process documentation, and close-process improvements.
- Experience using automation, AI-enabled tools, or systems integrations in accounting.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $113,000–$141,000.
