Principal Software Engineer - Backend

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Management, Engineering Directors, and Principal Architects to translate strategic objectives into scalable technical roadmaps.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and QA.
• Lead the design and implementation of features and services within the core Java platform, from conception through deployment.
• Define and champion engineering best practices and contribute to technical designs, proposals, and architectural decisions.
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers, guide technical design reviews, and raise engineering standards across the organization.
• Develop maintainable software with comprehensive test coverage and improve testing and CI/CD strategies.
• Create technical documentation and foster knowledge sharing.
• Champion AI-native engineering practices using AI coding assistants while maintaining security and code-quality standards.
• Identify emerging trends and prototype solutions related to device security and AI-native development.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive software development experience.
• Experience designing and building scalable, high-performance server-side features using Java and Spring.
• Expertise with high-performance Postgres or MySQL environments, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs for large-scale systems.
• Knowledge of caching, asynchronous processing, and multithreading.
• Understanding of design patterns, scalability patterns, security engineering, and object-oriented principles.
• Experience in agile environments, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction.
• Deep understanding of endpoint security concepts, including Trusted Platform Modules (TPM), Secure Enclave, device-management/MDM protocols, and endpoint detection.
• Conceptual understanding of how iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS security features report state to the cloud.
• Proficiency with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building anomaly-detection or risk systems.
• Experience in cloud security, identity, or authentication protocols.
• Understanding of identity and access management technologies, including FIDO, U2F, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth, and federation.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices; CISSP or Security+ certifications.
• Experience with ReactJS.
• Exposure to gRPC API development.
• Exposure to microservice architecture.
