Data Center Operations Project Manager

Responsibilities

  • Oversee site readiness, coordinating stakeholders to prepare facilities for equipment installation and operational deployment.
  • Lead end-to-end project management for physical-layer and cable-infrastructure rollouts, from planning through testing and handoff.
  • Oversee installation of structured cabling, including backbone fiber, copper, pathways, and containment, ensuring vendor adherence to engineering designs and timelines.
  • Coordinate with the Digital Infrastructure Group (DIG), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, Gantt charts, schedules, milestones, and dependency tracking.
  • Identify project risks, physical constraints, and resource blockers, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide proactive updates on progress, risks, and milestones to engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Standardize and optimize deployment methodologies, processes, and documentation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of technical project or program management experience focused on infrastructure deployments, data center operations, hardware rollouts, or large-scale technical infrastructure projects.
  • Foundational understanding of data center site readiness, networking, server deployments, and cloud readiness.
  • Experience supporting hardware deployments, rack-and-stack operations, or physical-layer infrastructure rollouts in complex data center environments.
  • Track record of managing complex technical projects from inception through completion.
  • Advanced proficiency with project management tools, including Gantt charts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and adaptability skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to physical data center sites as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Data Center Design Professional (CDCDP) certification.
  • 10+ years managing large-scale, hyperscale, or modular data center build-outs and physical-layer installations.
  • Experience or interest in alternative energy systems, stranded energy resources, or climate-aligned computing technologies.
