Senior Revenue Accountant, Advertising

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate accounting across Spotify’s advertising revenue businesses, including programmatic, direct-sold, podcast, and emerging ad products.
  • Execute and review month-end close activities, including revenue and deferred revenue journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses.
  • Support accurate and timely advertising financial reporting under IFRS and SOX control requirements.
  • Identify process improvements and partner with Engineering and business stakeholders to scope, test, and implement scalable accounting processes and system enhancements.
  • Develop and refine revenue accounting processes for new advertising revenue streams, ad formats, platform integrations, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Technical Accounting, Finance, Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, FP&A, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Financial Engineering, and other teams.
  • Prepare internal and external audit support, assess accounting risks, and test system releases affecting advertising revenue reporting.
  • Support acquisitions, ERP and system implementations, and special projects.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in revenue accounting, accounting operations, general ledger accounting, or public accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent higher education.
  • Knowledge of IFRS, revenue recognition principles, and accounting controls.
  • Exposure to ITGC and/or SOX environments.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP such as Oracle or SAP.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, prioritization, and deadline-management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in digital advertising, ad tech, digital media, entertainment, or another large-scale business.
  • CPA or CA credential.
  • Experience with SQL, BigQuery, or AI-enabled tools.
