Responsibilities
- Design and implement features and performance improvements in Fivetran’s core platform for highly scalable distributed data pipelines in the cloud.
- Improve product platform ownership, reliability, performance, security, and engineering quality.
- Lead engineering-wide initiatives for key technologies and collaborate on cross-functional projects.
- Work across requirements, design, prototyping, implementation, code review, release, and monitoring.
- Review and approve technical design documents and pull requests.
- Improve engineering documentation and development processes.
- Coach and mentor software engineers and participate in hiring interviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in an object-oriented or systems programming language such as Java, Python, or C#.
- Experience writing, testing, and deploying well-structured, performant code.
- Experience developing data-processing systems, preferably for external-facing products.
- Experience with systems profiling, performance analysis, and optimization.
- Experience troubleshooting existing code and systems.
- Experience with cloud architectures using technologies such as AWS, Google Cloud, Postgres, Kubernetes, or Docker.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cosmos DB.
- Experience developing ETL or ELT pipelines.
