Responsibilities
- Define authorization models for AI agent actions and enforce least privilege on users’ behalf.
- Build phishing-resistant authentication and authorization for people and AI agents.
- Shape product direction by identifying customer needs, defining outcomes, and delivering solutions.
- Own product and quality decisions and technical outcomes.
- Drive scalable distributed-systems architecture and complex API integrations.
- Advance AI use across software design, review, and delivery, and establish team practices.
- Coach engineers and raise the team’s technical bar.
- Improve CI/CD, observability, documentation, reliability, support, and technical debt management.
Requirements
- Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments.
- Advanced proficiency applying AI tools across the software development lifecycle.
- Proven experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs.
- Strong understanding of web authentication, authorization, auth flows, and sensitive-data protection.
- Deep experience building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.
- High proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and the ability to deliver robust frontends.
- Strong cloud architecture fundamentals and experience designing and operating large-scale AWS services.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience on a zero-to-one, startup-like team.
- Led a team through changes such as AI adoption, developer-tooling improvements, or cultural shifts.
- Familiarity with Identity and Access Management tooling.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary: $160,000–$220,000 CAD.
