Responsibilities
- Define authorization models for AI agent actions and enforce least privilege on behalf of users.
- Build phishing-resistant authentication and authorization for people and AI agents.
- Shape product outcomes by understanding customer needs and defining solutions.
- Own product quality and technical outcomes.
- Make architectural decisions for scalable distributed systems and complex API integrations.
- Advance AI usage across the software development lifecycle, including design, review, and shipping.
- Coach engineers and raise the team’s technical bar.
- Drive improvements in CI/CD, observability, documentation, reliability, support, and technical debt.
- Maintain a direct connection between engineering work and customer outcomes.
Requirements
- Ability to work autonomously, identify priorities, and operate effectively in ambiguity.
- Proficiency applying AI tools across the software development lifecycle and evaluating development tooling.
- Proven experience designing scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs with modern web technologies.
- Strong understanding of web authentication, authorization, authentication flows, and sensitive-data protection.
- Deep expertise building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.
- High proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and the ability to build robust frontends.
- Strong cloud architecture fundamentals and experience designing and operating large-scale AWS services.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working on a zero-to-one, startup-like team.
- Experience leading teams through changes such as AI adoption, new developer tooling, or cultural shifts.
- Familiarity with identity and access management tooling.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary: $160,000–$220,000 CAD.
- Equity, bonus, health, dental and vision insurance, RRSP matching, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave, including PTO and parental leave, may be provided in accordance with applicable plans and policies.
