Leads Reddit’s global intellectual property strategy, litigation, portfolio development, and risk management while advising product, engineering, executive, and legal stakeholders. Requires a JD, US state bar license, and at least 10 years of IP litigation experience, including copyright, patent, trademark, and trade secret matters.

Responsibilities

Define and continuously evolve Reddit’s worldwide IP litigation strategy in alignment with product roadmaps, market positioning, risk profile, and long-term business goals.
Oversee Reddit’s global IP portfolio and align it with business priorities and competitive differentiation.
Shape Reddit’s international litigation and strategic stance on emerging and novel IP matters.
Translate complex competitive IP landscapes into actionable strategic recommendations.
Advise cross-functional partners and Legal team members on copyright, trademark, patent, and trade secret matters.
Collaborate with engineering, product, legal teams, and outside counsel to mitigate IP risk, protect Reddit’s brand, business, and innovations, and build its patent portfolio.
Navigate risks and manage internal and external challenges on Reddit’s IP matters.

Requirements

JD, top academic background, and current license in a state bar in the United States.
10+ years of experience as an IP litigator, preferably combining big law firm training with in-house experience at a technology or fast-paced company.
Strong understanding of copyright, patent, trademark, and trade secret law.
Experience leading a wide variety of IP matters and collaborating across teams.
Proven experience navigating intricate and emerging copyright litigation challenges.
Experience with patent litigation, licensing negotiations, and portfolio development.
Strategic thinking, complex problem-solving, risk calibration, and ability to communicate clearly with executive, business, and technical audiences.
Excellent communication, negotiation, collaboration, prioritization, and relationship-building skills.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning, web technologies, social products, technologies and platforms, and/or mobile technologies.
Big law firm training and in-house technology company experience.
Familiarity with Reddit and its products.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $266,000–$418,000 USD.
Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, potentially commission.
