Build reliable, high-performance backend services for Databricks Lakebase, spanning distributed systems, database lifecycle management, data-path proxying, and platform reliability. Responsibilities
- Build and operate backend services for the Lakebase platform, including reliability infrastructure, control-plane lifecycle management, and high-throughput data-path proxy services.
- Design distributed systems, scalable service architectures, monitoring, workflow orchestration, and developer experiences.
- Build reliable, secure, high-performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing data on AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Azure Blob Storage.
- Develop product features that help customers store and access data.
- Identify downtime causes and systematically improve or eliminate root causes.
- Define service-level indicators (SLIs), meet service-level objectives (SLOs), and drive long-term reliability improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8+ years of production-level experience with Java, Scala, C++, or a similar language.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with SaaS platforms or service-oriented architectures.
- Knowledge of SQL.
