Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance C++ software for complex systems.
- Architect scalable simulation solutions for systems of systems and real-time processing.
- Integrate third-party software and hardware systems into comprehensive architectures.
- Set technical standards and mentor engineers on best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align projects and ensure delivery.
- Apply agile development practices, including continuous integration and test-driven development.
- Debug and optimize systems to improve performance.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies.
- Decompose tasks for teams and individuals.
Requirements
- 7+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or equivalent combinations of experience and education, including 5 years with a master's degree or 4 years with a PhD.
- Advanced software engineering and systems integration experience.
- Knowledge of design patterns and system-level engineering principles.
- Extensive modern C++ experience, including C++17/20 and legacy C++98/03 codebases.
- Python experience.
- Programming experience in Linux; Windows experience is a bonus.
- Expertise with Docker or other containerization technologies.
- Experience leading projects with 10+ contributors.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and optimization skills.
- Experience with collaborative development, continuous integration/delivery, and test-driven development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Real-time and distributed simulation experience.
- Experience with surface or subsurface simulation environments and models.
- Advanced third-party software and hardware integration experience.
- Experience with gRPC, REST APIs, and message queues such as ActiveMQ or ZeroMQ.
- Familiarity with CMake and Conan.
- Experience with UCI and OMS standards.
