Responsibilities
- Design and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for an open-source platform.
- Build developer interfaces, including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and a runtime.
- Collaborate directly with customers to solve integration challenges.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability across backend services.
- Shape the product roadmap and company strategy through high-ownership decisions.
- Engage with the open-source community and maintain the repository.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience for the Staff level, with demonstrated ability to scale high-traffic systems.
- Deep experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance-critical systems.
- Experience with Node.js and modern backend stacks.
- Strong communication, proactive execution, and reliability in a remote-first environment.
- Product mindset and empathy for developers, with a focus on developer experience.
- Ability to work autonomously, take ownership, navigate ambiguity, respond to incidents, and unblock teammates.
- Based in North America, Latin America, or Europe.
Nice to Have
- Passion for developer tools and engineering best practices.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.
