Counsel, Litigation & Risk

Responsibilities

• Handle legal matters directly, with an emphasis on personal injury cases.
• Collaborate with the Legal Team to develop and implement litigation strategy aligned with broader business objectives.
• Manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, and trial and appellate strategies.
• Analyze litigation matters and participate in resolution strategy decisions.
• Interpret and apply current law and regulations to products and services.
• Manage outside counsel, including tactical guidance, staffing, case management, budgeting, and strategic alignment.
• Provide litigation guidance to management.
• Advise cross-functional teams, including Claims, Risk, Safety, Policy, and Communications.
• Communicate effectively with insurance carriers and other third parties.

Requirements

• 5+ years of litigation experience, practicing at a leading law firm or in-house.
• J.D. from a top-tier law school.
• Active membership in a state bar in good standing.
• Strong problem-solving, judgment, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing as a team member.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
• Ability to manage complex workloads, multiple client demands, and shifting priorities under pressure.
• Resourcefulness, initiative, high standards, and strong ethics.
• Understanding of the transportation, ridesharing, and sharing-economy industries.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior in-house experience.
• Experience advising technology clients as outside counsel.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base pay range for the Los Angeles area: $132,480–$165,600.
