About the job
Responsibilities
- Build detection, inference, state, and delivery systems behind critical product experiences.
- Instrument difficult problems before selecting a solution.
- Establish evidence of correctness when ground truth is unavailable.
- Make principled tradeoffs across imperfect signals, edge cases, and user impact.
- Turn persistent quality problems into comprehensible, repeatable systems.
- Partner with product and platform teams to determine where systems should live.
Requirements
- Experience shipping a complex system with interacting failure modes.
- Experience owning a system whose correctness was difficult to observe.
- Experience defining a quality metric whose meaning was contested.
- Strong systems thinking combined with product intuition and user empathy.
- Recent, hands-on implementation experience and the ability to follow problems across boundaries.
- Detail-oriented, first-principles approach and ownership of ambiguous outcomes.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with signal processing, fraud, ranking, anomaly detection, or machine learning evaluation.
