Responsibilities
- Lead multiple engineering teams or a significant product area with autonomy.
- Translate organizational goals into execution plans and manage parallel, high-impact workstreams.
- Define vision, strategy, goals, and roadmap for the area.
- Communicate direction to engineering teams and senior leadership.
- Coach senior engineers and develop emerging engineering leaders.
- Build cross-functional alignment with Product, Design, and adjacent engineering teams.
- Recruit senior engineering talent and build diverse, high-performing teams.
- Promote high standards, ownership, quality, urgency, and operational excellence.
- Identify systemic issues and drive process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- 4+ years of engineering management experience with an autonomous track record of impact.
- Experience leading high-complexity engineering teams across multiple simultaneous workstreams.
- Ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
- Recruiting experience, including attracting and developing senior engineering talent.
- Technical depth to guide architecture decisions and uphold product quality and engineering standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a critical service with demanding reliability and latency requirements.
- API design expertise and experience maintaining a high bar for API quality.
