Engineering Manager, Product

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of product engineers through mentorship, feedback, hiring, and clear technical guidance.
• Drive key product initiatives from ideation through launch, balancing speed, reliability, and quality.
• Partner with Product and Design to translate customer needs into technical solutions and product roadmaps.
• Guide system design decisions and help the team navigate architectural tradeoffs.
• Foster ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in engineering practices and team processes.
• Break down complex problems into incremental milestones that deliver value quickly while supporting long-term platform evolution.
• Ensure the team understands developer experience and customer impact.
• Collaborate with product management, customers, and internal teams to align priorities and deliver impactful features.

Requirements

• 8+ years as an engineer shipping products or features with downstream business and product impact.
• 2+ years managing people and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Strong technical background in system design, architecture, and engineering tradeoffs.
• Product-oriented mindset with experience translating business goals and user needs into engineering roadmaps and shipped features.
• Ability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution and maintain high quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and design.
• Strong ownership and accountability for team outcomes and long-term system health.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building products for developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, or DevTools.
• Experience with highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure platforms.
• Experience improving engineering velocity through tooling, processes, and team practices.
• Experience building products used directly by developers or technical users.
• Successful collaboration with product, marketing, and customer support teams to drive adoption and retention.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $204,000–$280,000 annually.
