Build and operate high-throughput, low-latency real-time voice services for a globally distributed platform. The role requires 2+ years of distributed application experience, strong Java and cloud skills, and experience evaluating and using AI coding tools.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement real-time services with high-throughput and low-latency requirements.
- Verify, deploy, and operationalize services.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs and deliver simple, robust, scalable solutions.
- Communicate ideas through detailed technical prose and documentation.
- Collaborate with leads, architects, and cross-functional teams.
- Help scale a globally distributed platform for high availability, reliability, throughput, latency, and media fidelity.
- Develop novel solutions for customer problems in the Voice channel.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience building large-scale distributed applications with JVM-based technologies.
- Experience building RESTful services, designing APIs, and working with event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Google Cloud, OpenStack, or Azure.
- Excellent written communication and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Strong Java fundamentals, including the ability to architect, review, and debug code.
- Experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with on-call rotations and incident response.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, and Grafana.
- Experience using AI to improve delivery efficiency.
- Experience scaling data tiers with SQL and NoSQL databases and caching technologies.
- Experience designing and developing horizontally scalable, resilient backend systems that perform under load.
- Knowledge of SIP and Stir/Shaken protocols.
