Senior Manager, Utility Contracts
Owns negotiation and lifecycle management of utility infrastructure agreements for large-load data center projects. The role requires deep electric utility experience, expertise in interconnection and reliability requirements, contract-management rigor, and strong cross-functional coordination.

Responsibilities
- Lead negotiation of utility infrastructure agreements for new and existing data center campuses, including construction, operating, transfer, and amendment agreements.
- Manage agreement obligations across the project portfolio, tracking contractual citations, deadlines, owners, and status.
- Run monthly deadline reviews, escalate at-risk items, and ensure recurring reports, forecasts, certifications, and payments are completed.
- Advise on utility tariffs, end-user connection requirements, metering and interconnection specifications, Good Utility Practice, and NERC/RTO reliability obligations.
- Translate utility requirements into actionable requirements for engineering and operations teams.
- Manage contractual aspects of customer-build programs, including design submittals, procurement compliance, commissioning, title transfer, easements, land rights, and closeout obligations.
- Coordinate with Energy Development, Real Estate, Power Engineering, Legal, Finance, project teams, utilities, and data center tenants.
- Report on obligation status, upcoming deadlines, counterparty performance, and contract risks.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in the electric utility sector or negotiating and managing utility agreements for large customers or developers.
- Direct experience with large-load interconnection, energy service or electric service agreements, and utility construction agreements.
- Strong knowledge of utility tariffs, connection requirements, interconnection processes, metering standards, and reliability obligations.
- Familiarity with NERC standards and RTO/ISO requirements, including MISO, ERCOT, or CAISO large-load rules.
- Experience with the engineering, procurement, and construction lifecycle, including design reviews, procurement standards, commissioning, and project closeout.
- Demonstrated success negotiating complex infrastructure agreements with utility counterparties.
- Exceptional contract-management organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to translate contract language into clear actions for technical, real estate, finance, and executive stakeholders.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Dallas, TX or San Francisco, CA.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center, large industrial, or other large-load development projects.
- Familiarity with behind-the-meter or bring-your-own-capacity structures, customer-build lead lines, or utility asset transfer agreements.
- Experience implementing contract lifecycle management or obligation-tracking tools.
- Utility regulatory experience, including state commission proceedings and tariff filings.
