Responsibilities
- Own performance validation, optimization, and debugging of telematics control unit (TCU) firmware and connectivity.
- Define component integration plans from hardware bring-up through advanced functions and fleet deployment.
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive validation plans across the product lifecycle.
- Design and facilitate network-emulation campaigns to identify cellular edge cases, performance bottlenecks, and vulnerabilities.
- Analyze diagnostics and logs across cellular networks, 4G/5G modems, internal software layers, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
- Investigate complex field issues and cross-functional integration problems, determine root causes, and recommend solutions.
- Validate interfaces between RF/baseband, baseband protocol stack and application processor, and application processor and host.
- Develop and improve log-analysis frameworks and automation scripts for wireless communications testing at scale.
- Review, adjust, and author software, firmware, and integration design specifications and requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and promote validation best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of industry experience in wireless validation or embedded-systems test engineering.
- Deep experience developing 3GPP cellular, 4G-LTE, 5G-NR, Wi-Fi, and satellite feature test plans.
- Expertise debugging MAC, Layer 1, RF, and firmware protocol layers.
- Extensive knowledge of LTE/5G protocol stacks, including NAS, PDCP, RRC, RLC, MAC, and PHY, and the ability to interpret 3GPP specifications.
- Experience using cellular analysis tools such as QXDM, Shannon Tools, and Wireshark.
- Hands-on experience with network emulators such as Keysight UXM and Rohde & Schwarz CMW500/CMX500.
- Strong Python or Shell scripting skills for automated test frameworks.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and BLE.
- Experience testing embedded Linux or Yocto Project software.
- Experience in autonomous vehicles, telematics, or IoT.
- Experience driving continuous improvement, mentoring engineers, and promoting validation practices.
