Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Data Platform Engineering team, owning the design, implementation, and operational excellence of systems that process complex healthcare data.
  • Provide technical contributions and architectural guidance while establishing standards for data modeling, processing, and maintainability.
  • Build and optimize scalable data abstractions, pipelines, and frameworks for growing enterprise data volumes.
  • Translate complex business and data requirements into well-scoped, estimated, and composable architectural work.
  • Promote AI-native engineering practices, integrating AI tools to improve development workflows and automate data operations.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across Engineering and Product, aligning priorities with organizational goals.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, conduct design reviews, and manage root cause analyses.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience focused on big data, distributed systems, and infrastructure.
  • 2+ years managing engineering teams and building high-performing teams.
  • Expertise with batch processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, and EMR.
  • Experience with stream processing systems such as Kafka and Redpanda.
  • Proficiency with Temporal, Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, Spark, dbt, and Soda.
  • Strong ownership, proactive execution, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable technical roadmaps.
  • Experience working hands-on in dynamic, fast-paced startup environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing healthcare data standards such as HIPAA and EDI.
  • Interest in improving the U.S. healthcare system.

Compensation

  • Target salary range: $310,000–$385,000.
  • Eligible for equity incentives and benefits including flexible PTO, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and Teladoc Health.
