Senior Global Payroll Operations Specialist - ANZ

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for STP auditing and year-end finalisation, ensuring compliance with ATO and IRD regulations through accurate and timely submission of EIs and EDs.
• Resolve payroll and tax issues directly with government agencies and internal stakeholders.
• Manage statutory payment submissions across Australia and New Zealand, including Superannuation, KiwiSaver, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and Payroll Tax.
• Audit payroll records, deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Define product requirements based on current system behaviour and lead product launches, payroll audits, and other special projects.
• Partner with Global Payroll Engineering and Product teams to resolve calculation and file-generation errors and prioritize tooling and automation.
• Engage with customers, investigate root causes, and de-escalate complex payroll and compliance queries.
• Develop operating procedures and contribute to ANZ payroll strategy, process improvements, and operational scaling.

Requirements

• Extensive experience running payroll in the ANZ region, with strong payroll compliance expertise.
• Experience handling tax matters and resolving tax notices with the ATO and IRD.
• Strong understanding of ANZ HR and payroll laws and policies.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• At least 4+ years of ANZ payroll operations experience and 5+ years in a client-facing role.
• Strong project management, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office for data analysis and workflow management.
• Ability to overlap with US Eastern and Pacific working hours.

Nice to Have

• Experience collaborating with R&D teams to define requirements, test, launch, and audit products or features.
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Jira, and Confluence.
